After three consecutive seasons with an overall grade of 80.0 or higher on at least 400 defensive snaps, having split time between free safety, strong safety and slot duties on a talented Clemson defense, K’Von Wallace checks in as PFF’s eighth-ranked safety on the final edition of the PFF Big Board.
Though it’s really in the slot — a position Wallace played on over 50% of his snaps in 2019 — where he has all the tools to be an impact player at the NFL level.
The bottom line on Wallace in the PFF Draft Guide reads, “Wallace has ideal slot cornerback traits in today’s NFL. He’s physical, quick and instinctive. Don’t get too cute with him, just throw him in the slot and let him work.”
Draft Wallace. Put him in the slot. Profit. It’s really as easy as that.

Wallace is physical
The ability to sniff out screens, fight through blocks and make plays in front of them is one of the more important aspects of a slot cornerback’s job description. Listed at 5-foot-11 and 206 pounds, Wallace has the build and the play on tape to show that he can do that.
On this play (above) against Florida State in 2018, Wallace throws his blocker to the ground, giving the receiver nowhere to go before he ultimately makes the tackle.
It’s a similar story on this play (above) from the 2018 National Championship against Alabama. Wallace gets around the blocking Jerry Jeudy to lay a shoulder on Henry Ruggs III off the screen. He made sure to let Jeudy know about it, too.
