• Buffalo Bills RB Latavius Murray’s usage in the red zone could make him a viable option for managers in a pinch: This week, a suitable matchup against the Giants could yield his fourth finish inside the top 30 in the 2023 season.
• Rookie WR Josh Downs has been a top target for Indianapolis Colts QB Gardner Minshew under center: A favorable matchup against Jaguars cornerback Tre Herndon has Downs as a stream-worthy option in Week 6.
• Washington Commanders TE Logan Thomas enters Week 6 as the TE7 in fantasy points per game scored: Even with a favorable matchup against the Falcons and a track record of production, Thomas remains available in the majority of fantasy leagues.

Fantasy managers might find themselves in panic mode ahead of Week 6, with a number of injuries to key players that were likely the glue holding rosters together. If you find yourself in a pinch and need a spot start, here are five players to consider adding from the waiver wire as an “in case of emergency” flex play for Week 6.
QB Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Stafford has had a solid start to the 2023 season, though, it hasn’t quite translated to fantasy production in most scoring formats. In fact, Stafford ranks second among all quarterbacks in pass attempts, fourth in completions and fourth in passing yards. All of that has earned him a ranking of QB17 to date this season, mostly due to a lack of passing touchdowns. His 2.5% touchdown rate ranks 32nd among quarterbacks.
The Cardinals rank fourth in passing yards allowed this season while being tied for the fifth-most passing touchdowns given up, which has resulted in the fourth-most fantasy points per game allowed to opposing quarterbacks. Consider this a solid opportunity to start Stafford as a streamer if he’s available in your league.
