• The ultimate Mack attack: Khalil Mack comes up with a massive IDP performance this week on the back of six sacks!
• A return to an elite deployment for Kyle Dugger: Dugger played more than half of his snaps in the box for the first time this season and delivered 15 total tackles as a result.
• Injury, trending down, or both?: Shaquille Leonard left this week’s game with an injury but continues to fall out of favor with IDP managers and potentially the Colts’ coaching staff.

Week 4 Takeaways
Waiver wire
- LB Christian Harris, Houston Texans: Harris played more snaps than last week (62%) and led the team in tackles as a result. Harris is worth adding until Denzel Perryman is officially back in the lineup.
- LB E.J. Speed, Indianapolis Colts: With Shaquille Leonard’s downfall and injuries, E.J. Speed stands out as a top waiver wire target this week, as he should see an increased role even if Leonard is active next week.
- LB Chad Muma, Jacksonville Jaguars: Muma played an every-down role in Devin Lloyd’s absence, and this should continue for at least another week. Lloyd had to have thumb surgery and did not travel with the rest of his team to London last week where they will play another game in Week 5.
- LB David Long, Miami Dolphins: Long appears to have moved into the team’s LB1 role given the decline in playing time for Jerome Baker. The only thing to be wary of for prospective Long managers or those adding him on the waiver wire would be the potential for Andrew Van Ginkel to steal snaps should he move back into that role when Jaelan Phillips is healthy.
- ED Dayo Odeyingbo, Indianapolis Colts: Odeyingbo would see an increased role if Paye is unable to pass concussion protocol in time for Week 5. Odeyingbo posted 1.5 sacks this week against the Rams and draws a decent matchup again against the Titans next week.
- ED Tuli Tuipulotu, Los Angeles Chargers: Tuipulotu played more than enough snaps to be in consideration for IDP lineups with Joey Bosa’s hamstring injury keeping him off the field once again this week. The Chargers have a bye week in Week 5 so Bosa could be back but Tulipulotu would be the one to add if he is unable to return for Week 6.
- ED Andrew Van Ginkel, Miami Dolphins: Van Ginkel delivered two sacks in this game but what makes him more interesting is how much Vic Fangio wants to keep him as a big part of this defense. Jaelan Phillips is dealing with an oblique injury and has missed two games this season already which has helped Van Ginkel get more edge snaps. However, when Phillips returns, Van Ginkel should still have a role potentially playing more off-ball linebacker and keeping him IDP-relevant.
- S Taylor Rapp, Buffalo Bills: Jordan Poyer was inactive for this game with a knee injury and coud potentially miss more time which makes Rapp a name worth adding off waivers for those looking to replace Poyer.
- S Brandon Jones, Miami Dolphins: DeShon Elliott missed this game with an ankle injury which allowed Brandon Jones to get a starting job back after tearing his ACL last season and losing that job to the newly signed Elliott. Jones should continue in a full-time role while Elliott is out but Jevon Holland appears to still have the box-heavy role in this defense.

- Point of interest: Kyzir White remains the top Cardinals’ linebacker to target by far. Ezekiel Turner had a productive day but on 69% of the available snaps, he will be difficult to trust outside of deep leagues. It’s also worth noting that Josh Woods would be ahead of him on the depth chart if he returns next game, making Turner someone who can mostly be avoided on waivers this week.

- Point of interest: Nik Bonitto posted 2.5 sacks this week against one of the most sacked quarterbacks in the league in Justin Fields. Bonitto has shown flashes of being a good pass-rusher in the NFL but has been unable to string together any consistency which, despite the decent playing time, makes him difficult to trust in most leagues until those pass-rush metrics get more consistent.

Hutchinson is averaging 91% of defensive snaps and has yet to post fewer than six pressures in a game which has led to an 89.8 pass-rush grade through four games. He should be considered a locked-in top-12 IDP edge defender going forward.

- Waiver wire: With Denzel Perryman out again, rookie Henry To'oTo'o played a near-every-down role, which was expected from his waiver target mention last week. However, Christian Harris played more snaps than last week (62%) and led the team in tackles as a result. Harris is worth adding until Perryman is officially back in the lineup.

- Point of interest: Jalen Pitre played his first full game of the season and saw the largest share of box snaps among the team’s safeties, and while it didn’t lead to much tackle production, he should be able to take advantage of that in the weeks ahead.

- Injury: Kwity Paye suffered a head injury in this game, which has landed him in concussion protocol this week.
- Waiver wire: Dayo Odeyingbo would see an increased role if Paye is unable to pass concussion protocol in time for Week 5. Odeyingbo posted 1.5 sacks in this game against the Rams and draws a decent matchup again against the Titans next week.

- Point of interest: It appears that DeForest Buckner was strategically limited in this game after missing a lot of practice this past week dealing with a groin injury. It’s possible that Buckner will continue to be limited in practice this week which hopefully allows him to play more snaps in Week 5.

- Point of interest: Shaquille Leonard left this game with a back injury in the fourth quarter and did not return to the game. Leonard has been hampered by injuries over the past few seasons and has seen his role reduced to early downs only this season. It’s possible that a combination of injuries and lack of ability at the moment create trust issues for the team in getting him on the field more this season.
- Waiver wire: With Leonard’s downfall and injuries, E.J. Speed stands out as a top waiver wire target this week as he should see an increased role even if Leonard is active next week.

Travon Walker also landed a sack but his pass-rush metrics continue to be concerning, making him a volume-based play only in IDP leagues.

- Point of interest: Khalil Mack delivered six sacks (not a typo) in this game, which made him far and away the top IDP scorer for the week. Mack has been a frustrating IDP at times over the past few seasons, as he can have long stretches with very little production despite typically playing more than enough snaps to deliver that production.
- Waiver wire: Tuli Tuipulotu also played more than enough snaps to be in consideration for IDP lineups with Joey Bosa’s hamstring injury keeping him off the field once again this week.

- Point of interest: Eric Kendricks was seemingly held on a pitch count for this game due to returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined him in each of the previous two weeks. With the Chargers getting a bye week in Week 5, it’s likely that Kendricks returns to his full-time role in Week 6 which would likely push Kenneth Murray’s snap share down a bit.

- Waiver wire: Andrew Van Ginkel delivered two sacks in this game but what makes him more interesting is how much Vic Fangio wants to keep him as a big part of this defense. Jaelan Phillips is dealing with an oblique injury and has missed two games this season already, which has helped Van Ginkel get more edge snaps. However, when Phillips returns, Van Ginkel should still have a role potentially playing more off-ball linebacker and keeping him IDP-relevant.

Duke Riley | 31.0% | 31.3% | 30.0% | 5.6% | 1 |
- Trending down: Jerome Baker saw his snaps fall to second among the team’s linebackers this week, which isn’t a good sign for him as he played behind David Long all game and behind even Duke Riley in the fourth quarter. Part of the fourth quarter could have been the game getting out of hand but at the very least, on a team that typically only deploys one full-time linebacker, it no longer appears to be Baker.
- Waiver wire: David Long appears to have moved into the team’s LB1 role given the decline in playing time for Baker. The only thing to be wary of for prospective Long managers or those adding him on the waiver wire would be the potential for Van Ginkel to steal snaps should he move back into that role when Jaelan Phillips is healthy.

- Waiver wire: DeShon Elliott missed this game due to an ankle injury, which allowed Brandon Jones to get a starting job back after tearing his ACL last season and losing that job to the newly signed Elliott. Jones should continue in a full-time role while Elliott is out but Jevon Holland appears to still have the box-heavy role in this defense.

- Point of interest: Nicholas Morrow, after back-to-back games with a tackle efficiency that was well below average for the position despite playing an every-down role, made up for his IDP transgressions by delivering three sacks and double-digit tackles this week. Double-digit tackles should continue to be in play for as long as he is playing 100% of snaps.

- Fool’s gold: Elandon Roberts led the Steelers linebackers in tackles this week, but he played fewer than 60% of the available snaps, which is not ideal to trust going forward. This Steelers’ linebacker rotation continues to cause inconsistent production and trust issues for IDP managers as to when it will be safe to start them on a weekly basis.
