Bye weeks are going to start creating some tougher fantasy decisions for IDP going forward, so deciding who to start and who to sit for the next little while could require some additional research. Luckily for you, the reader, I’m here to do a bunch of that research for you. So, let’s jump in and have a look at who we should lean on and who we should avoid heading into Week 7.
DEFENSIVE LINE
START — Frank Clark, DE, Kansas City Chiefs (vs. DEN)
Frank Clark is coming off a couple of quiet weeks against the Raiders and Bills after totaling three sacks in four games to start the season. With Clark producing just one total tackle in his past two games, fantasy managers could be feeling frustrated and ready to change out this starting defensive end.
Week 7 brings a matchup against the Broncos and their 51.8 pass-blocking unit — ranking 31st in the NFL. Clark has brought a fair amount of pressures this season, as he is among the top-24 edge rushers in this category, while Denver has allowed their quarterback to be under pressure on 33.9% of dropbacks — tied for the third-highest mark in the league.
The volume of snaps and pass-rush attempts is there for Clark to start converting his opportunities into sacks once again this season, as the Broncos offer as good an opportunity for this as nearly any opponent.
SIT — Carlos Dunlap, DE & Geno Atkins, DT, Cincinnati Bengals (vs. CLV)
Consider this a double shot of warning for two players who have been long-time IDP stars in Cincinnati. Both Carlos Dunlap and Geno Atkins have been openly frustrated about their diminishing roles in the Bengals' defense, even causing speculation about either, or both, being traded before the approaching deadline.
