Fantasy football teams can always look to improve and add depth to our rosters. Whether it’s typical fantasy or IDP, the waiver wire is always the easiest way to do this, as we don’t have to rely on making trades with other league-mates; we just have to be active, quick, and knowledgeable enough that we can earn the edge over our opponents.
Here are 10 players who are likely still out there in your leagues who have shown some potential to be starters for our IDP lineups in the foreseeable future:
Defensive line
Sam Hubbard, DE, Cincinnati Bengals
No matter how much I or anyone else wants this to be Carl Lawson, it appears that the Bengals are going to be using Hubbard as the starting edge rusher across from Carlos Dunlap. To Hubbard’s credit, he has earned this role and certainly made the most of it in Week 1. Logging 6 solos, 2 assists, 4 total pressures that included 2 sacks and 2 QB hits, Hubbard was an absolute beast for Cincinnati against the Seahawks to open 2019. These numbers — along with playing 41 of 51 defensive snaps — should put Hubbard on everyone’s radar for the weeks to come as we hope to see this level of production continue.
Quinton Jefferson, DT/DE, Seattle Seahawks
Staying in the same game, Jefferson is a player I’ve seen listed as DT or DE depending on which site you use, but especially in DT-premium leagues, he looks like a player ready to do some damage. Putting up 7 total pressures, which included 2 sacks (already halfway toward his career high for 1 season) and 2 PBUs en route to an 83.6 defensive grade, the Bengals had all kinds of problems trying to keep this big man from getting after their QB. Even going into a matchup with the Steelers and their solid OL, Jefferson will be a player you’ll want to add and even think about starting after this breakout performance.
