- NFL beat writer George Bremer has reported that Indianapolis Colts first-round safety Malik Hooker is “good to go for the start of training camp’. Hooker was recovering from a sports hernia surgery that kept him away from all off-season activities.
- Hooker was drafted with the 15th overall pick of the NFL draft after a stellar year at Ohio State, in which his PFF coverage grade ranked fourth among all Big Ten safeties. He accumulated seven interceptions, tied for the most in the nation.
- In coverage, he allowed just 0.58 yards per coverage snap, ranking seventh among Big Ten safeties. Hooker allowed just 2.78 yards after the catch per reception and a passer rating of 41.4 on throws into his primary coverage, both of which ranked eighth of 114 draft eligible safeties.
