Many Philadelphians are disappointed in the Eagles’ 2020 NFL Draft haul. A lot of that has to do with the Jalen Hurts’ selection in the second round, one that we believe was not just a good pick, but a great one. However, there is also some hesitance as to whether Jalen Reagor was the right pick at 21st overall with someone like Justin Jefferson still on the board. Reagor may have been the lower-ranked player when looking at the consensus around the industry, but he was the 21st ranked player overall on PFF’s Big Board, 11 spots higher than Jefferson. He also addresses the primary area of need when looking at this offense — speed.

That was the element DeSean Jackson was supposed to provide in 2019, and to be fair, he came out of the gates firing to start last season, catching two passes that traveled 45 or more yards in the air (Carson Wentz’s only two such completions all season). In all, he brought in eight passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the opener. He provided the field-stretching element that really opens up an offense.

The problem is that it was the only full game of action we saw from Jackson in 2019. He suffered an injury in Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons, and the only other time he saw the field was in Week 9 against the Chicago Bears (four snaps) before re-aggravating it. Jackson ran just 38 routes on the year.
