The Buffalo Bills lost 22-24 against the Denver Broncos on a walk-off field goal on Monday Night, dropping out of playoff position.

Game Summary

According to our new noise-canceled score metric, it was indeed a close game, but the Bills should have prevailed.

They moved the ball much better than the Broncos, especially on early downs. However, the mix of high-leverage plays on late downs, turnovers and the two crucial penalties on the final drive lost them a game they should not have lost.

Passing summary

Josh Allen didn’t take a single sack. He provided value with a few scrambles, including a touchdown, and threw a targeted pass on 90% of his dropbacks. The only problem was that these targets led to turnovers, most of which were of the fluky kind.

Receiving summary

We can’t really blame the receivers behind Stefon Diggs for not stepping up when Diggs was mostly taken out of the game, as all of them got open and made crucial plays. The Bills’ problems lay elsewhere this time.

Rushing summary

On a positive note, the Bills had a really strong ground game. Their 68% success rate from their run plays is one of the highest marks we’ve seen in a single game in recent history.
