The Philadelphia Eagles solidified their bid for the first seed in the NFC and simultaneously created chaos in the race for home-field advantage in the AFC, as they won the much anticipated prime-time game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night.
Game Summary
According to our new noise-canceled score metric, this was a close game in every way. The defenses dominated, at least as much as they could have, given the talented offenses on the field. Ultimately, mistakes in high-leverage situations, such as drops, a fumble and an ill-advised punt in Eagles territory while still ahead, lost the game for Kansas City.
Passing Summary
Both defenses had a really strong game, and both passing offenses were limited or limited themselves with mistakes. Most notably, the Chiefs sacked Jalen Hurts five times on only 30 dropbacks.
Receiving Summary
The Chiefs limited A.J. Brown, a top-three wide receiver, to 8 receiving yards. Luckily for the Eagles, they have another wideout who isn't all that far behind Brown, and he went off for 99 yards the same night.
The Chiefs spread the wealth — or the small part left of it — around many targets, but they must start facing the reality that their passing offense is too dependent on Travis Kelce.
