In a windy and rainy Orchard Park, the Kansas City Chiefs slugged out a 26-17 win over the home Buffalo Bills. In quite the changeup, the Chiefs ran for over 245 yards to grind out the win. Both teams could not find any grip through the air, as the two combined for just 343 passing yards throughout.

Story of the Game

The new-look Bills offense has looked like the old Bills offense the past two games with quarterback Josh Allen coming back down to earth as of late. Allen threw for just 122 yards on 30 dropbacks. His 4.5 yards per attempt was just barely above the 4.4 YPA he managed against the Titans last week and his second-lowest single-game mark on the year. One of the main culprits for Allen was his play under pressure. On 13 pressured dropbacks, he only completed three balls for 22 yards. He did gain two first downs on scrambles. Chiefs defensive linemen Chris Jones and Alex Okafor were the pressure bearers with each creating four pressures on the Bills quarterback. Veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs continued to catch everything close to him. He caught six of his eight targets but for only 46 yards. He was the Bills' leading receiver.

Rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire was the bell cow for the Chiefs, as the former LSU back for a career-high 161 yards with 94 of them coming after contact. He broke four tackles, as well. Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes completed 80.8% of his passes in what felt like a lunch pail performance for the now seasoned veteran. His 6.5 average depth of target was his second-lowest of the season. The plan seemed to be to attack Josh Norman through the air. He was targeted six times and allowed five catches as Tre White returned to patrol the other cornerback spot. White was not targeted, as the Chiefs were wise to stay away from his side of the field.

Rookie Watch

Besides CEH, Willie Gay played a couple of snaps at linebacker for the Chiefs while Tershawn Wharton played 14 at defensive tackle. Each had a tackle.

Bills' AJ Epenesa played 22 snaps and provided a single pressure for the Bills defense. On offense, Gabriel Davis played 29 snaps but was only targeted once. Zach Moss had five attempts for 10 yards and a forced missed tackle.
