The Minnesota Vikings stunned the favored San Francisco 49ers to finish Week 7, beating them 22-17 at home on Monday Night Football.
Here is our initial statistical review of the game.
Game Summary
According to our new noise-canceled score metric, the game shouldn’t have been as close as it was, as the Vikings missed a field goal and came up short at the goal line twice.
Passing summary
The story of the game was Kirk Cousins standing in the pocket and delivering strikes all night against the 49ers' vaunted pass rush, especially on third down.
Kyle Shanahan’s passing offense was efficient as always, but the two interceptions ultimately cost them.
Receiving summary
The 49ers spread it around among their best skill players, with everyone getting a piece of the pie.
With star wide receiver Justin Jefferson (hamstring) out for at least three more weeks, the Vikings needed rookie pass-catcher Jordan Addison to seize the opportunity — and he did so in the best way possible on Monday night. His 123 yards across 33 routes actually sells his performance short since he also drew two crucial penalties for first downs. He did all of that while shaken by an injury mid-game.
Rushing summary
Neither team ran the ball well, but the Vikings did a better job of overcoming the tough situation.
