The Los Angeles Chargers moved to 4-4 and kept their slim playoff hopes alive by beating the New York Jets 27-6 on Monday Night Football. Here is our initial statistical review of the game.
Game Summary
According to our new noise-canceled score metric, the game was as close as the final score indicated. However, it’s notable that most of the Jets' production came on the final drive in garbage time, a drive the Chargers defense probably wouldn’t have allowed in a closer game.
Passing Summary
The Jets passing defense was as stout as ever, but they didn't force any turnovers, which is a prerequisite, given the state of their offense.
Receiving Summary
Keenan Allen avoided Sauce Gardner for most of the night by lining up in the slot. Consequently, he was the Chargers' only successful wide receiver.
Rushing Summary
The Chargers scored two rushing touchdowns at the goal line, but other than that, neither team was able to do much on the ground.
