NFL Week 9 Early-Sunday Staff Picks: Player props, spread bets and more

• Bet Travis Etienne o77.5 rush yards, o22.5 receiving yards vs Raiders: His explosiveness as a rusher nearly unmatched, but Etienne hasn't been busy as a receiver — yet.

• After facing two above-average defenses in the Broncos and Giants, Etienne draws a Raiders unit that has permitted a NFL-high 422 receiving yards to opposing backs.

• Bet Aaron Jones u28.5 receiving yards at Lions: Detroit has only allowed 149 receiving yards total to backs, as teams are content instead taking whatever they desire downfield.

Here are PFF staff best bets in the early-window Sunday in Week 9:

Tej Seth: BET: JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS RB TRAVIS ETIENNE — OVER 77.5 RUSHING YARDS (-110) VS LAS VEGAS RAIDERS

Bet Gameplan: Playable to 79.5

Mike Renner: Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones — Under 28.5 receiving yards (-110)

Bet Gameplan: Playable to 25.5

• Like every other offense that has faced the Lions defense this season, the Packers should have everything they want throwing downfield on Sunday. The Lions have only given up 149 receiving yards to running backs this season (21.3 yards per game), while allowing 1,355 yards to wide receivers (193.6 yards per game).

Judah Fortgang: Raiders RB Josh Jacobs — Over 3.5 receptions (+135)

Bet Gameplan: Playable to +115

• The Jaguars are allowing 7.2 catches to running backs, 3rd-most in the NFL. Jacobs has a 75% snap share (tied for 2nd), meaning he should be on the field to be the main beneficiary of a Jaguars scheme that filters targets backs. Jacobs has hit this prop in 3/5 games since undergoing a role change following Week 3, and Sunday in Jacksonville presents his most favorable matchup to date.

Kurt Blakeway: BET: CAROLINA PANTHERS @ CINCINNATI BENGALS — UNDER 42.5 TOTAL POINTS (-110)

• The Bengals looked completely lost without Ja'Marr Chase in Week 8 against the Cleveland Browns: Cincinnati was held to 229 total yards and shut out until the 4th quarter. On top of that, the Bengals only mustered up 36 yards on the ground. Expect them to make it a point to get Joe Mixon more involved this week, as Carolina ranks in the bottom 10 in defending the run. Meantime, Cincinnati is the 10th-slowest team in the NFL in terms of pace of play and are the 3rd-best on converting 3rd down conversions. Long, time-consuming drives are what we are hoping for.

Arjun Menon: Etienne — Over 22.5 receiving yards (-110)

Bet Gameplan: Playable to 24.5

• The Raiders have allowed 422 receiving yards to running backs this year, which is tops in the NFL through 8 weeks. They got toasted by Alvin Kamara last week to the tune of 96 yards. Etienne hasn't seen much receiving work in recent weeks, but he's also faced 2 above average defenses vs RBs in the Giants and Broncos. In a game where the Raiders edge players may cause pressure on Trevor Lawrence, Etienne could be the beneficiary of some checkdowns and go over his prop number.

Martyn Carlisle: Raiders WR Davante Adams — Over 74.5 receiving yards (-110) / 100+ yards (+240)

Bet Gameplan: Playable to 82.5 / +200

• Davante Adams has been hit or miss this season, but the market has overreacted to a dud last week, when he was playing while still recovering from the flu. He is a top 3-5 receiver in the league who is still being targeted at the 12th-highest rate at the position and still is averaging 2.0 yards per route run. The Jags' coverage defense is middle of the pack as far as EPA and success rates are concerned, but they have played a soft schedule of QB/WR combos, and aside from A.J. Brown (5-95 vs Jags), Adams is comfortably the best receiver they have faced.

Martyn Carlisle: Indianapolis Colts QB Sam Ehlinger — anytime TD (+550) @ New England Patriots

Bet Gameplan: Playable to +400

• Quarterbacks generally tend to be underrated in TD scorer markets, and there was a lot of buzz about Sam Ehlinger's rushing ability before his NFL debut. Although it did not necessarily come to light in that game, there was enough to believe that he will be useful in certain situations. He is more of a power runner than anything, which makes him most useful at the goal line. And in a week without star RB Jonathan Taylor, Ehlinger might see more carries inside the 10 than would usually be the case.
