- According to 9News reporter Mike Klis, Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch will miss at least a few weeks with a shoulder sprain. With rookie quarterback Chad Kelly still recovering from wrist surgery and starting quarterback Trevor Siemian unlikely to see the field, Kyle Sloter is set to start under center against the Arizona Cardinals. Klis reports that the team is “exploring options” at quarterback.
- Lynch recently lost the quarterback competition in Denver, and is now set to backup Siemian for the second straight year. In his three preseason games, Lynch earned PFF game grades of 60.8, 52.5 and 44.4, and finished with the lowest grade among Denver’s quarterbacks in all three games.
- Accuracy was an issue for Lynch this preseason. Through three games, Lynch has posted an adjusted completion percentage (the PFF metric that accounts for drops, throwaways, spikes, batted passes, and when the QB is hit as he throws to give a clear measure of QB accuracy) of 66.7 percent, which ranks last among Denver’s quarterbacks, and 54th of 85 all quarterbacks with at least 20 dropbacks.
