- Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward continued his dominant 2017 performance last night, as his team cruised to a 28-6 victory over the Dallas Cowboys in their Week 12 Thanksgiving matchup. Heyward ended the game with an ‘elite’ game grade of 93.0, the highest grade posted by a defensive player in all of last night’s three games. Hayward’s Thanksgiving performance further cemented his place as the highest graded cornerback in the NFL this year, something that PFF’s Brett Whitefield wrote about this week.
- All in all, Hayward played 29 snaps in coverage last night. He was targeted seven times, allowed just three receptions for 22 yards and added a pass break up and an interception. He ended the game allowing just 0.76 yards per coverage snap, and a minuscule passer rating of 11.3.
- Hayward did his best work against Cowboys’ star receiver Dez Bryant. When covering Bryant, Hayward was targeted four times and just allowed two receptions for 19 yards and tallied the pass breakup in the process, and when targeting Bryant in Hayward’s coverage, quarterback Dak Prescott was reduced to a passer rating of just 63.5.
