- In an interview with Comcast SportsNet's John Clark, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson has said he hopes to “take a little bit off” QB Carson Wentz's plate in 2017. Pederson also said that Wentz felt that “too much was resting on his rookie shoulders” last year.
- Wentz started spectacularly in 2016, and after three weeks of the season, he was the highest graded quarterback in the NFL, with a PFF grade of 90.2. His play dropped off in the second half of the season, and he ended his rookie year with a grade of 78.3, ranking 20th of 33 qualifying quarterbacks.
- He logged 1125 snaps over the course of the year, the third most snaps recorded by a rookie quarterback since 2006. A lot was asked of him down the stretch, and he threw 422 of his 607 passes from Week 7 through the end of the season.
