  • Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett could miss significant time with the ankle injury he suffered during practice Wednesday. The Browns don’t yet know the extent of the injury, but Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that the club fears he could miss a period of weeks, possibly four or more.
  • Garrett was selected with the first overall pick of the NFL draft after a stellar career at Texas A&M. In his three years in college, Garrett attained PFF overall grades of 90.5, 89.3, and 92.1, ranking second, third, and first, respectively, among all college edge players.
  • A dominant force in the pass rush, Garrett racked up 31 sacks, 35 hits and 98 hurries over the last three years in college. In his senior season, he produced 53 total pressures on 311 pass-rush snaps, for a pass-rush productivity (the PFF metric that measures pressure on a per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks) of 13.5, good for sixth among all draft-eligible edge players.
  • Garrett carried his game over to the NFL level, and was impressive during preseason action. He produced seven pressures on 44 pass rushing snaps, for a pass rush productivity of 12.5 that ranked fourth among rookie 4-3 defensive ends with at least 40 pass-rushing snaps, and he ended the preseason ranked seventh among all edge players with a PFF overall grade of 83.0.
