- Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press has reported that Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron is still missing Lions practice. According to reports, Ebron is still nursing the hamstring injury he suffered three weeks ago, and there has been no update on when he’ll be back on the field.
- In 2016, Ebron saw a career-high in snaps (749), targets (85) and his average of 1.54 yards per route run ranked 20th among the league’s tight ends.
- However, Ebron has struggled with drops since entering the league, and has dropped 17 of his 150 catchable targets over the last three seasons. His drop rate of 11.33 percent is the second-highest among tight ends with at least 150 targets during that time.
- With the departure of Anquan Boldin, the Lions were hoping to increase Ebron’s workload in the red zone this year, but his absence during training camp may have cost him the chance to build chemistry with Matthew Stafford. In 2016, Ebron generated a receiver rating of 110.0 on his red-zone targets, the third-highest among Lions skill position players.
