Redskins' DeAngelo Hall likely to be limited early in 2017

Washington Redskins S DeAngelo Hall has missed 31 of the last 48 games due to various injuries. He most recently suffered a torn ACL in Week 3 of the 2016 season and is likely to start the 2017 season on the reserve/PUP list.
Hall signed with the Redskins as a free agent prior to the 2009 season. He has played six seasons at cornerback, but made the switch to free safety in the twilight of his career.
His unavailability is a blow to the Redskins, who need veteran depth at safety. The projected starters D.J. Swearinger and Su’a Cravens are both better fits in the box.
Hall has been inconsistent since moving to safety. He allowed an average of 0.56 yards per snap in coverage in 2015 (ranking him 50th among safeties) and allowed a passer rating of 113.7 on throws into his coverage in his limited playing time in 2016.
Hall’s play has certainly dropped off in recent years, but he might still feature as Washington search for balance in their secondary.
