- Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams, who was recently placed on injured reserve, is scheduled to undergo surgery on Friday, according to ESPN’s John Keim. Williams faces a six-month recovery, which will put him back on the field for next season’s training camp.
- Williams initially tore his patella tendon in his team’s Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and played through the pain for most of the season. Despite this, Williams will end the 2017 season with an overall grade of 82.1, which is currently the 10th-best mark among all players at the position.
- Williams has been one of the best pass-protecting tackles in the league. In 10 games, he’s allowed just 17 pressures on 363 pass-blocking snaps, resulting in a pass-blocking efficiency of 96.5, the eighth-best mark among tackles with at least 340 pass-blocking snaps.
- Williams is also the only left tackle in the league who has played more than 350 snaps this year without allowing a sack. Williams last allowed a sack in Week 7 of the 2016 season, and his current streak of 563 pass-blocking snaps without allowing a sack in a game is the longest active streak among players at the position.
