Green Bay Packers wideout Davante Adams is an all-around talent who can — and will — carve up a secondary from any hash on the field. But homing in specifically on the red zone provides a clear look at just how far he’s come since being selected out of Fresno State in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Adams’ 89.0 red-zone grade in 2018 didn’t come without the trials and tribulations of first finding his place in the NFL. In his rookie campaign, Adams’ red-zone potential was apparent — he caught six of his 10 targets for two touchdowns with one drop. It wasn’t the flashiest effort, but it was one indicative of a rookie who had a lot more to show down the road.

And now we’re down that road.

The Packers’ stud has gradually improved his red-zone presence — so much so, that it isn’t excessive to call him the NFL’s best inside an opponent’s 20-yard line. Adams has improved his 52.4 red-zone grade in 2014 to one nearly 40.0 points higher, and the numbers back it up. So let’s delve into exactly how Adams has become a top red-zone threat.
