Moss missed parts of 2023 with injury, but he also had stretches where he was the feature back with Jonathan Taylor again injured. Moss scored the fourth-most fantasy points from Weeks 2-5 over four starts. He was putting up the best numbers of his career, although the offensive line was giving him a lot of help. He saw more than 50% of offensive snaps in two more games in Weeks 13 and 14 and ran 32 times for 79 yards.
•
His competition for playing time will be with Chase Brown. Brown slowly but surely earned some work for the Bengals late last season. Brown played more than five offensive snaps for the first time in Week 13, when he took nine carries for 61 yards. He never averaged more than four yards per carry after that point. Similarly, all of his receiving production came in one game against the Colts, when he caught three passes for 80 yards and a touchdown. That represented more than half of his total receiving yards and all of his receiving touchdowns.
•
Moss is in a clear competition with Chase Brown. He could win the early-down job outright and play as well as Joe Mixon did in his prime, or he could be a backup and only be a handcuff to Brown. It will likely be somewhere in between, with both players taking 7-13 carries per game.
